The second edition of the 16 Nations FOX WAFU Tournament takes shape.
After the first edition of the 16 Nations FOX WAFU (West Africa Football Union) tournament, successfully organized by Ghana in 2017, the second edition of this sub regional competition will be hosted by Senegal in September 2019 .
A first meeting of the organizing committee was held for this purpose on November 13th in Dakar, in the presence of Kyle de Klerk, representing the American Fox News Channel, Mr. Augustin Senghor, WAFU West A Zone President , Mr. Jammeh Bojang , SG of WAFU West A Zone West Zone , Mr. Malick Thiam, member of Senegal FA Executive committee, Mr Victor Cisse, SG of Senegal FA and Jean Jacques Diene, Head of Senegal FA Legal Department .
It was important for FOX, the main partner of this tournament to have an update on the event which will shortly take place in Senegal. Thus, it is concluded that the draw will take place on March 22 in Dakar, on the eve of the last group match of Senegal vs Madagascar, for the Cameroon 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
Before the draw, all the members of the Local Organizing Committee will meet on December 18th in Dakar and that will be also an opportunity for them to visit Lat Dior Stadium in Thies where the tournament will take place
The WAFU Nations Cup brings together the 16 national squads of zones A (9 countries) and Zone B (7 countries). Ghana Black stars are the defending champion after their 4-1 win over Nigeria Super Eagles at Cape Coast last year.
